‘The Real Me’ is the opening track on Quadrophenia, the Who’s landmark rock opera from 1973. It features an incredibly melodic bassline from John Entwistle, combing upper register solo figures with lower twisting low register lines. John also arranged and performed all of the brass parts on this great song.
I performed the line using my Mayones Viking bass strung with Rotosound strings. I played quite aggressively in order to get closer to John’s tone. The tone was compressed and slightly distorted in Logic.
