‘Footloose’ is the theme song for the movie of the same name. It was co-written and performed by Kenny Loggins as one of two tracks that he contributed to the soundtrack. It was a big hit for Loggins, reaching the top spot in several charts around the world, notably the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, where it spent three weeks. It also reached #6 in the UK Singles Chart. The bassline was played by legendary session bassist Nathan East, who also toured with Loggins during the eighties. The song was rehearsed extensively prior to recording, with Nathan developing his part gradually. The final recording was done in a single take.
