‘5:15’ is from Quadrophenia, the Who’s landmark rock opera from 1973. It features a great rock bassline from John Entwistle, combing upper register melodic lines with a snarling bass groove that is continuously evolves throughout. John also arranged and performed all of the brass parts on this great song.
I performed the line using my Fender CS ’67 Precision bass strung with Rotosound strings. I played quite aggressively in order to get closer to John’s tone.
