Throughout 1987 and 88, Jim Steinman worked with a number of people on adapting the 1967 film 'The Graduate' for the stage. During this time two tapes were produced featuring songs intended for the show, this is the second - with all songs written by and performed by Jim Steinman on this tape, recorded sometime in early 1988.

00:00:00 It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time (Future Elements of 'What Part of My Body Hurts The Most')
00:04:33 Here's To You, Kid (Early Version of 'Everything's Bright' and 'Logic')
00:12:54 Who The Hell Are You? / Guilt Ridden (Future Elements of 'Braver Than We Are')
00:17:18 Summer and Love
00:23:59 Standing At A Door (Early Version of 'We're Still The Children')

There are also lyrics here by Martin Charnin, who Steinman was working alongside on this play by 1988, and possibly some lyrics from Bob Merrill who had originally been working on the play before bringing Steinman along to work on it - after this Steinman continued working on the project with Martin Charnin, and it was at that time that this tape was recorded.

This is among the most obscure pieces of Steinmania and I've tried to restore the tape which was running fast and is quite worn to have it sounding as good as I can. You'll notice the origins of a few motifs and chord progressions, as well as full on instrumentals that would appear in some of his later works. The origins of 'Everything's Bright', and 'Logic' from TDV are to be found here, as well as 'We're Still The Children We Once Were', and there are elements in some of these songs that are very reminiscent of later songs such as 'What Part of My Body Hurts The Most?' and 'Braver Than We Are' (although Braver's origins go back even before this...) All that aside, enjoy!
