I spoke with mountaineer, Jim W. Morrison about 'Trango', a new documentary presented by The North Face. Morrison and Christina "Lusti" Lustenberger take audiences on this breathtaking journey down one of the tallest mountains in the world.
Directed by Leo Hoorn, the film documents an ambitious expedition to attempt the first-ever ski descent of Great Trango Tower in Northern Pakistan’s Karakoram Range. Long regarded as one of the most imposing granite spires in the world, Great Trango Tower rises more than 20,000 feet above sea level, its West Face defined by sustained exposure, complex route finding and massive vertical relief. On May 9, 2024, Morrison and Lustenberger successfully climbed and skied the face, linking technical mountaineering with precise big-mountain skiing while operating in thin air and consequential terrain where retreat was limited and every decision carried weight.

Morrison is known for pursuing bold, high-consequence ski objectives in some of the world’s most demanding environments. His recent historic ski descent on Mount Everest further cemented his reputation for calculated risk taking, meticulous preparation and composure under pressure. Lustenberger, widely considered one of the most accomplished big-mountain skiers of her generation, is a former member of the Canadian national alpine ski team whose technical foundation and mountain sense have defined her career.
