Jesus demonstrated trust in God, trust that God would fulfill his promises, that God would resurrect Jesus from death.

Just like us, Jesus had to rely on God, because just like us, Jesus was a human, limited in knowledge and power.

If Jesus were God himself, what "trust" would be needed? None. He would have had the power to do whatever he chose, the certainty of knowing what he as God would do in the future.

Jesus is the founder and perfecter of our faith, because he set the example for us, of how to trust God.
