Matsumoto City in Nagano, Japan - brimming with culture & history, holds an illumination event during the entire winter season. This unique projection mapping lights up Matsumoto Castle in stunning colors and patterns, making it a must-see show!

Fortunately, whilst we were there we had the opportunity to also see the annual ice sculpting competition, which was a first for us. Seeing the craft firsthand was truly eye opening, and if given the opportunity, we'd highly recommend it!

We also tried to see the Japanese Alps from one of Japans best viewpoints via the Shinhotaka ropeway, but alas, the clouds got in the way! Sometimes these things can't be helped with winter travel.
