Today I'm driving into the teeth of a sea effect snow storm impacting Japan's northern Honshu coastal and mountainous areas. I'm setting off early from Tokyo towards Matsumoto then cutting west over the Alps towards to the picturesque town of Shirakawa before heading to Kanazawa to intercept snow squalls and thundersnow.
