Here's the whole song, from our show at Flywheel in Easthampton MA. Janet and I met in Boulder a while back when she performed with Batteries Die Media Ensemble, the expanded 11 piece version of my duo with composer/artist Michael Theodore. We hit it off immediately, and I loved what she contributed to the project. She entrusted me with her banjo, thinking I might do something with it. About a year later I got the idea to play it with a bow, in keeping with her own playful and innovative work, and the next day I'd recorded the first track to my upcoming album Josh Billings Voyage. Janet's latest album Songs With Words includes a version of the same old song which, as it turns out, is in the same key as mine, and the two songs fell in together in our brief rehearsal for the Flywheel show. It was a very nice bit of happenstance, and a real pleasure to get the chance to play together. I look forward to next time!
