It’s time to party, it’s the last day of Jamuary 22! 27 jams in 31 days, that was quite a ride!
My initial idea for Jamuary was to start of with a few sessions on the Liven Xfm, as I didn’t use it lately in my music and I wanted to dig a bit deeper, followed by an acid series around 303 and 101. Then I fell in love with that little box. With it’s six voice polyphony, the four parallel tracks with upto 64 steps, the sound- and parameter-locking options per steps, it helped me create soundscapes, that I did not expect of it.
It’s FM engine is really deep, the FX with some subtle settings on the chorus or the reverb help the sound a lot. Being such a small device, I could take it with me, power it up from a powerbank and create my jams literally anywhere - which helped throughout Jamuary. The sequencer works great for me - minimal patterns with different step lengths, some movements in percussion, the ability to set probability per step and automating the FX amount helped me create my music. All the playable parameters can be accessed with knobs and buttons and I like it’s performing capabilities, too.
Now that it’s the end of January, I’ve already created 27 new jams this year, learnt a lot and am eager to continue creating. Guess that’s a good reason to party a bit.
