Report:
“While on patrol along Sister's Creek in Jacksonville, FL, my partners and I were conducting a vessel stop with our blue lights activated. A Sea Hunt vessel entered the slow speed zone and passed within 300 feet of our patrol unit without coming off plane, a violation of state law. Upon stopping the vessel to conduct a safety inspection, I immediately noticed the operator had slurred speech, a heavy sunburn, and was swaying while attempting to stand. He struggled with fine motor skills while searching for a whistle and fire extinguisher, and I detected a strong odor of alcohol. After being assisted onto our patrol vessel, the operator admitted he was 'getting ready to go to jail' and refused to perform any seated field sobriety tasks. He was placed under arrest for BUI and later refused a lawful breath test despite multiple warnings of the legal consequences.”
