Are modern AI systems as creative or even more creative than humans? What is creativity and how can we best conceptualize it? I argue that generative AI does not capture important aspects of creativity. Then, the question becomes how to use these tools best. What will be the effect of such AI technologies on children and the educational system? The intuitive way students use these systems is to get their homework done, a strategy that hinders rather than supports creativity. Which recommendations should we give to educators and students to appropriately use generative AI to boost creativity?
