I'm James Rogers, a firefighter, and I was proud to add my voice today at Zack Polanski's press conference at Church House, delivering an urgent message to Prime Minister Andy Burnham about the climate crisis we're already living through. This isn't a distant threat for those of us on the front line — it's heat stroke calls, it's fires ripping through parks kids used to play in, it's longer shifts and thinner resources as incidents get more severe. I wanted people watching to understand that the climate crisis isn't coming. It's calling 999.
Every day the response is delayed, the harder this gets — for communities, for governments, and for the emergency services trying to keep people safe. I stood alongside an ex-soldier, a GP, and broadcaster Chris Packham because this crosses every part of society. We'll do our job. The question Zack put to the Prime Minister today is whether the rest of the country — and the government — is willing to do its part too.
