It’s been quite a day - Sandy’s having a well-earned holiday so we’ve been crazy busy putting together this week’s monster vintage Gear Update…
A few choice pieces went almost immediately and it seems like the phone’s not stopped ringing and the emails have kept pinging in.
Nice then at the end of the day for Job and I to have a few moments exploring this rather lovely original Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man.
This was the first DMM and it uses the fabled SAD1024 BBD chips that are found in many of the devices that we particularly enjoy.
They’re darker and noisier than later chips such as the more ubiquitous MN3005 that came later, but that means more texture and character.
It’s not what you always want from a delay pedal, but sometimes it just hits the spot in a way that others cannot replicate.
