“I have a Yamaha CS70m which I have had from new (I even still have the box!) that has had very little use and I now need to move it on. Can you help?”
This is the sort of email we love to receive - the answer was of course, yes!
And it showed up, in the original box (bought from Harrods!) with the owner’s manual and an original Yamaha CS brochure.
It might be my favourite CS - very different from the 50/60/80 (less finicky and perhaps a less demanding synth to own long term) and with a sound/workflow of its own.
A sad effect of vintage synth price inflation is we rarely get to see some of our favourite synths these days - this is the first CS70M we’ve had in at least three years. Sam Shepherd (Floating Points) bought one from us and went on to make some amazing records with it. We even sold one that belonged to Massive Attack a while back.
It’s been a long time, but I couldn’t resist having a quick play while it was on James’ bench this week - the sequence recorder is so simple and so quick to use - and I was again struck by how much I love this synth.
It was being cleaned up for a full set of photos on Friday and was looking really lovely - they should now be on the listing. I’m half hoping it hangs around a while so we get to play with it a little longer.
