I wanted to share this "very serious" moment with you all, because it reminds me of why I make music.
Recently, inside of Learning Sound and Synthesis, someone brought this topic up, asking the group: "why do you create music?"
It's a big question, and I think there's no "right" or "wrong" answer... but our discussion reminded me of how important play and joy are in my personal creative practice.
The discovery of a sound you've never heard before; the moment of surprise and delight when something funny or unexpected happens; the process of trying something you're not sure will yield a result, just because it *might* lead somewhere cool...
And I feel like when I'm really operating from that place of playful discovery & exploration, it always DOES lead somewhere interesting. This video was one of my first moments with the @makenoisemusic Strega -- I was recording these sounds, not sure anything would come from it, and it ended up turning into my album "MASS" š
