For a while now it's been possible to dupe items by overflowing your key-item inventory past the 32-item limit. Upon doing so, new key items get added to your normal-item inventory for some reason, and then the game would always ask you to throw a normal item away. The item that you throw away gets duped, unless you already have 10 items. It was thought that the overflowing of your key-item inventory is what caused the duping to occur, but then I realized that that might not necessarily be the case, and that I already knew how to test the theory.
The item-duping glitch is ACTUALLY caused by throwing away an item while you have less than 10 normal items in your inventory. Overflowing your key items is one way to cause this to occur, but here's another way: Have 10 normal items, and then, exactly 2 frames prior to obtaining an 11th item, open your items menu and eat something. Between the time you select to eat the item and the time you actually start eating it, the 11th item is obtained and the game displays the "you need to throw something away" message. Wait for the item that you ate to be fully consumed, and THEN open the dialog to throw an item away. Now you're being asked to throw away an item, while you only have 9 items in your inventory. Throw away an item from your inventory and it will remain there and also be thrown away for you to recollect. For some reason, when you do this, the item doesn't wait for you to acknowledge that you're throwing it away before it just starts flying. There's also a side-effect where, if you don't dupe the top item, the item above the one you dupe gets mysteriously deleted.
The glitch that has resulted in this item dupe has been known about for a long time, but it was thought that all you could do with it was eat an item and then recollect it afterward. That's what occurs instead if you open the menu 1 frame before collecting the item, or if you open it 2 frames before but then open the throw-away dialog too early.
Item duping is currently banned in the 100% categories because of how it can be used to dupe Letters for Star Pieces. I think the definition should be changed to ban key-item duping only (if anything really has to be banned at all) and allow this to be done as it surely saves time over farming coins from Smash Attack and can't actually be used to circumvent the categories' requirements. It might also save time by skipping having to hit that block in the desert 100 times for an Ultra Shroom, for example. I could see it also being used to get extra Repel Gels in any%.

Crappy video. I had to mark it public b/c [redacted] wouldnt record a better one. You can use this to get the Starstone without Bombette or Lakilester, which was required in a puzzle I made which [redacted] wouldnt attempt either. Both of these are things he said he would do. :@
EDIT: The method to reach starstone, by the way, is to encounter the clubba again to get clippy and cancel Sushie glitch, then clip behind a rock in the corner. Sushie Mountain](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wIUuQD_Y-LU/mqdefault.jpg)

So now [unnamed dirtbag #1] tells me that two encounters with Sushie glitch also makes you clippy, which made me really interested to try it with [unnamed dirtbag #2]s & Kligs Sushie glitch in the jungle, lol. Theres so much dumb crap you could try with this but I decided to just go ahead and show beating Chapter 5 with it.
If you knock down the log on the Sushie Glitch screen you can easily clip through the log-thing that the Fuzzy starts out on with the clippy, so you dont have to come in after Yoshi Skip if you dont want to. If youre doing Chapter 5 in an incomplete state, you will probably want to clear out the cutscene where Kolarado misses the zipline, because, since it tries to move Mario, its horrifyingly glitchy, though it is possible to get through it. The final room of the volcano was the only other one which posed a challenge. The lava there, if it burns you, locks you out of diving so you cant try to climb the stairs again, and, bonus, also locks you out of taking loading zones, essentially softlocking you. So you have to climb the stairs quickly, which is hard because the collision there is bouncing you around all over the place.
Man what else can you do with this Sushie glitch anyway? Well I can tell you it is possible to get Super Block storage in the jungle, if you come in from the whale screen you can get OoB and around to where the block is, and then you can dive off the block to get over to the Shy Guy. Bad news, it doesnt seem like you can use A to interact with the bushes. I think if you have the Ultra Boots you could probably get Super Block storage in the volcano too, but I never tried it. I guess you can probably rescue the Red Yoshi Kid without fighting the M. Bush but I dont know why youd want to try it. You can also get Dizzy Stomp without the Ultra Hammer. I tried to get Ultra Hammer without Parakarry, and it would have worked except I wasnt allowed to open the chest. And of course you can beat Chapters 5, 6, and 7 without Parakarry or Lakilester as well. And if you get Watt and then do the Whale LZS you can do all of that without Kooper or Bombette either. I like subverting requirements, OK?
But all that stuff is besides the point. Were gonna go on an adventure is what were going to do. We Are Going On An Adventure](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xvxSUbCH55Q/mqdefault.jpg)
