September is National Rail Safety Awareness Month and we’re looking back at some of our throwback rail safety PSAs.

This harrowing 1990 segment can be found on our @metrolibraryandarchoves YouTube channel — a treasure trove of transit-related archives and footage.

When around trains, remember:
•Always stand behind the yellow line.
•Always look both ways when crossing train tracks.
•Never walk on train tracks.
•Never go around lowered gates.
•Don’t jump from the platform.
•Never run to catch the train.
•Pull down your hoodie and remove your headphones near tracks and trains.
•Don’t ride bikes, scooters, or skateboards on the platform.
•Motorists should always stop behind the limit line and obey all signals.
•Never make illegal left turns in front of oncoming trains.
