2 minutes to midnight refers to the "Doomsday Clock" established in 1947 in the Journal of the Atomic Scientist which indicates how close humanity is to a nuclear holocaust according to their consensus of scientists . In this episode of Peter Helland's show Israel, Peter interviews Gus Zuehlke who expresses the concern that people have a right to be truthfully informed about public events.In order to help people get to know Gus better, Peter asks him about his background growing up in Wisconsin where Gus's parents encouraged Gus to follow truth wherever it lead. At an early age, Gus was willing to investigate unpopular topics. Gus rejoined Peter in public discussion after the Trump administration decided to move the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.As Peter and Gus both found out, there was and is a tremendous bias in the reporting on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the main stream media.This also seems to affect the way the rest of the Middle East is covered. unless we provide opportunity for free and open discussion and debate wisdom and peace will be thwarted. The next morning after this program was taped it was reported that the Israelis shot down a Russian air force plane over Syria. We all remain concerned that truth be told to everyone so that cool and wise heads prevail. It is the willingness to be "Valiant for the truth" which combined with Christian love and compassion will hopefully lead us to peace.
