The Bernese Oberland is one of the most visited regions of all of Switzerland. Many people consider traveling to Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Thun or Brienz. However, there is this wonderful little fishing village called ISELTWALD that charms with its unique location and serenity. Laying at the shore of this incredibly turquoise lake, Iseltwald has a specially beautiful appearance, why people name it as one of the most beautiful villages of this region. Iseltwald village can be best reached by boat from Interlaken or Brienz. The boat ride is very scenic and quite comfortable. Arriving by car is possible; however, parking lots are limited; thus consider reaching by boat. It's in particular nice to walk along the shore of Lake Brienz and enjoy the various viewpoints over the houses of Iseltwald and the surrounding Alps and villages. Swimming in the lake is possible during June, July and August and pretty enjoyable. Great places are the pier near the ferry landing or the bay of Iseltwald. An eye-catching motif is Iseltwald's castle that looks very beautiful from various angles. Do not forget to explore the bay area with its many nice houses and photo spots. There are also a few cafes and restaurants for taking a break. Otherwise, walk through the various alleys and enjoy seeing the many traditional houses Iseltwald's. Iseltwald is a perfect place to visit for any budget traveler as it is not too touristy and the prices at the restaurants and hotels are lower than in other places in the region. Enjoy pure serenity and one of Switzerland's most stereotypical villages. Some people even claim Iseltwald is one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. Winter in Switzerland is a great season, as there are plenty of great things to do! Especially up in the Swiss Alps, there will be a lot of snow. There will be no greens during Winter and thus, the activities during the white season will very much differ from Summer. Winter is the season for skiing, Christmas, sledding, carnival and snow in general. Having travelled across the country during this season, I present you the Top 10 attractions of Switzerland during Winter.
Up in the Swiss Alps, there are many beautiful villages that appear specially nice during Winter. For example Grimentz is very much worth to visit during this time. Just nearby, there is the Zinal Glacier that looks very fascinating with its natural ice cave. You will need to go for a two hours’ winter hike to reach the glacier. December marks the beginning of Winter and also of Christmas season. Visit the many Christmas markets all around the country, in the larger cities or in the villages. During this month, many towns transform into charming Winter wonderland. Sledding is another great and fun activity to go for during Winter. Great toboggan runs (tracks) are up in Andermatt at the Nätschen or at Bergün. Feel the thrill of the speed while going downhill. Great views you can get at the Grindelwald First, you will see the many peaks of the Swiss Alps and also can go for skiing. Very enjoyable is the cliff walk at the Grindelwald First that takes you around a massive rock. Also consider visiting the village of Grindelwald itself. Zermatt is a very highlight of Winter up in the Swiss Alps. During this season, you will often get unobstructed views to the Matterhorn, the landmark of Switzerland. There are various places from where you can get a brilliant view over the Matterhorn: At Zermatt village itself, Sunegga, Blauherd, the Rothorn or the Gornergrat. All in all, so many great things to do during Winter in Switzerland.

June marks the beginning of summer in Switzerland. Expect warm and pleasant temperatures, typically ranging between 18°C and 28°C in lower regions. The days are long with plenty of daylight, making it perfect for exploring. In the mountains, temperatures are cooler, especially at higher altitudes.
👥 Tourist Season & Crowds
June sits just before peak season, making it a sweet spot for travel. Compared to July and August, there are fewer tourists, meaning you can enjoy popular destinations like the Berner Oberland, Zermatt, and Lucerne with a more relaxed atmosphere.
💸 Prices & Budget
Since peak season hasn’t fully started yet, June can be significantly more affordable. Accommodation and travel costs are generally lower than in July and August, where prices can rise sharply. It’s a great opportunity to experience Switzerland on a more reasonable budget.

Switzerland is full of beautiful cities! They are urban, vibrant and very happening. Although Switzerland is a small country, the diversity among the cities is very noticeable. The architecture, the art and the culture differ a lot from city to city. You will find the cities of Switzerland by the river, lake or even in the valleys. Each city has its unique appearance as well as its hotspots and attractions of where to go to.
Sion is the capital of the very touristy canton of Valais (Wallis). Interestingly, Sion is only little known but ranks easily among the most beautiful cities of Switzerland. Sion feels like being in Italy but is a French-speaking city. Sion is vibrant, full of street art and also a foodie hub. The most remarkable however are the two castles up on the hills. Lugano is the largest city of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Lugano lays by the lake, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and one can feel that Italy is quite near. Lugano charms with its many alleys, culture, lake promenade and its view points. The best view over the surrounding and the city of Lugano you can get at the Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore. Basel is the hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Basel is an old city and full of culture. It’s important to explore the many alleys with their colorful houses, see the red city hall, the minster and cross the bridges. Basel has a strong connection to its traditions. Important to mention here are the Vogelgryff and the Morgestraich. Bern is the federal city (capital) of Switzerland and the only town that is considered UNESCO world heritage. Very typical for Bern are the many arcades and the fountains. Bern’s old city is really a highlight, thus make sure to spend here at least half a day. Neuchâtel is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a town that feels Mediterranean and sort of French/Italian. The highlight of Neuchâtel are the lake promenade, the graffiti alley and the collegiate church with the castle. Schaffhausen is probably the largest and best preserved old city in Switzerland. Schaffhausen’s old town charms with its colorful houses and oriel windows (balcony windows). Schaffhausen is easy to explore by walk it’s pretty much car-free. The best things to do in and around Schaffhausen are a visit to the Museum zu Allerheiligen, walking at the Vordergasse alley, going up to the Munot and seeing the nearby Rhinefalls. The Munot is a centre for culture and hosts various events. Zurich is the largest city in all of Switzerland. It’s the hub for innovation and business but at the same time is a very touristy destination. Zurich’s old city concentrates around the Limmat quay. Walk along the river Limmat, enter the many protestant churches or head up to the Lindenhof and Polyterrase to enjoy a great vista over the old city of Zurich. Zurich is modern but also very cultural; the major event being the Sechseläuten festival. Fribourg is a city on two levels. The old city of perfectly preserved and thus great to explore. Ascend the church tower of the St. Nicolas cathedral or the Loretta chapel to enjoy a brilliant vista. Fribourg city has also some similarities with Luxemburg. Solothurn is the most beautiful baroque city of Switzerland. The old town is full of beautiful houses and concentrates around the river Aare. The major landmark is the St. Urseren Cathedral that offers you a great view from its tower. Lucerne is no doubt the most beautiful of the Top 10 Swiss Cities. Lucerne has been a favorite for many tourists since it offers so many great things such as a charming river promenade along the Reuss, a great view over Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Swiss Alps and otherwise seems very inviting with its alleys and painted houses. Lucerne’s best attractions are the Jesuitenkirche, Gletschergarten museum and many more. Explore Lucerne on the water by taking a boat ride or head up to Mount Pilatus to get a perfect vista over the Swiss Alps and this old city.
