Switzerland is the kind of country that is perfect for one day road trips. With the many lakes and the Alps, this country has numerous routes with breathtaking views. One of these amazing roads is connecting the canton of Uri to Glarus. This video is the sequel to the previous Klausenpass episode. The trip here start from the hospice of the Klausenpass, involving all nearby sites in the canton of Uri and especially Glarus in the Linth valley. The passroad heading down to Glarus looks dramatic with the massive mountains and steep rocks and is certainly very eyecatching. There are numerous waterfalls on this site, even at the upper part of the pass road. The first stop is in the village of Urnerboden, which is the largest Alp of Switzerland. At the village, you can buy local alpine cheese from local producers as well as trying various diary products, hams and saussages. The village is also quite nice, especially the bottom part near the church and the river section. Further down the road when entering the canton of Glarus, there is an amazing waterfall called Berglistüber that shall not be missed. It’s only 3 minutes away from the parking lot and what is very unique about it is that you walk behind the waterfall! Further down in the Linth valley, there is the Schreyenbach waterfall that you only can see on 45 days per year. This is because the hydropower plant further up will use the water that otherwise feeds the waterfall. Heading towards the city of Glarus, there is another very eyecatching waterfall called Diesbach fall. The waterfall is around 5-8 minutes from the parking lot and also easily reachable. As a last stop, the village of Luchsingen is also very much worth it, there are a lot of beautiful houses that are very typical for the canton of Glarus. In summary, too many waterfalls to see on the Glarus site of the Klausenpass, all of that can be easily done in one day.

June marks the beginning of summer in Switzerland. Expect warm and pleasant temperatures, typically ranging between 18°C and 28°C in lower regions. The days are long with plenty of daylight, making it perfect for exploring. In the mountains, temperatures are cooler, especially at higher altitudes.
👥 Tourist Season & Crowds
June sits just before peak season, making it a sweet spot for travel. Compared to July and August, there are fewer tourists, meaning you can enjoy popular destinations like the Berner Oberland, Zermatt, and Lucerne with a more relaxed atmosphere.
💸 Prices & Budget
Since peak season hasn’t fully started yet, June can be significantly more affordable. Accommodation and travel costs are generally lower than in July and August, where prices can rise sharply. It’s a great opportunity to experience Switzerland on a more reasonable budget.

Switzerland is full of beautiful cities! They are urban, vibrant and very happening. Although Switzerland is a small country, the diversity among the cities is very noticeable. The architecture, the art and the culture differ a lot from city to city. You will find the cities of Switzerland by the river, lake or even in the valleys. Each city has its unique appearance as well as its hotspots and attractions of where to go to.
Sion is the capital of the very touristy canton of Valais (Wallis). Interestingly, Sion is only little known but ranks easily among the most beautiful cities of Switzerland. Sion feels like being in Italy but is a French-speaking city. Sion is vibrant, full of street art and also a foodie hub. The most remarkable however are the two castles up on the hills. Lugano is the largest city of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Lugano lays by the lake, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and one can feel that Italy is quite near. Lugano charms with its many alleys, culture, lake promenade and its view points. The best view over the surrounding and the city of Lugano you can get at the Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore. Basel is the hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Basel is an old city and full of culture. It’s important to explore the many alleys with their colorful houses, see the red city hall, the minster and cross the bridges. Basel has a strong connection to its traditions. Important to mention here are the Vogelgryff and the Morgestraich. Bern is the federal city (capital) of Switzerland and the only town that is considered UNESCO world heritage. Very typical for Bern are the many arcades and the fountains. Bern’s old city is really a highlight, thus make sure to spend here at least half a day. Neuchâtel is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a town that feels Mediterranean and sort of French/Italian. The highlight of Neuchâtel are the lake promenade, the graffiti alley and the collegiate church with the castle. Schaffhausen is probably the largest and best preserved old city in Switzerland. Schaffhausen’s old town charms with its colorful houses and oriel windows (balcony windows). Schaffhausen is easy to explore by walk it’s pretty much car-free. The best things to do in and around Schaffhausen are a visit to the Museum zu Allerheiligen, walking at the Vordergasse alley, going up to the Munot and seeing the nearby Rhinefalls. The Munot is a centre for culture and hosts various events. Zurich is the largest city in all of Switzerland. It’s the hub for innovation and business but at the same time is a very touristy destination. Zurich’s old city concentrates around the Limmat quay. Walk along the river Limmat, enter the many protestant churches or head up to the Lindenhof and Polyterrase to enjoy a great vista over the old city of Zurich. Zurich is modern but also very cultural; the major event being the Sechseläuten festival. Fribourg is a city on two levels. The old city of perfectly preserved and thus great to explore. Ascend the church tower of the St. Nicolas cathedral or the Loretta chapel to enjoy a brilliant vista. Fribourg city has also some similarities with Luxemburg. Solothurn is the most beautiful baroque city of Switzerland. The old town is full of beautiful houses and concentrates around the river Aare. The major landmark is the St. Urseren Cathedral that offers you a great view from its tower. Lucerne is no doubt the most beautiful of the Top 10 Swiss Cities. Lucerne has been a favorite for many tourists since it offers so many great things such as a charming river promenade along the Reuss, a great view over Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Swiss Alps and otherwise seems very inviting with its alleys and painted houses. Lucerne’s best attractions are the Jesuitenkirche, Gletschergarten museum and many more. Explore Lucerne on the water by taking a boat ride or head up to Mount Pilatus to get a perfect vista over the Swiss Alps and this old city.

Goms is far away from the urban centres of Switzerland. It’s a blessing and a curse at the same time: Being barely inhabited these days but yet so well preserved, the villages of Goms are indeed very alluring. On your drive through Goms, do not forget to make a stop at Ulrichen, Münster and Biel (VS)! These villages are very picturesque and for sure, in here you are going to be likely alone! Although the villages yet remain rather forgotten, Goms these last years got more international recognition due to its amazing suspension bridge. The Goms Bridge is one of the best of its kind in Switzerland. Being shared so many times on Instagram it can be considered a hot photo spot. Which season is the best? Well… I don’t think there is any that is not great. Goms is perfect to visit any time of the year, which makes it really special.
