The Guy Fawkes 10 was always one of my favourite races. Ten miles of brutal hills in beautiful countryside rewarded with the biggest bag of chocolate... What could be better? Unfortunately this race always clashes with Poppy's birthday weekend so I've not had the chance to run it for absolutely years! Luckily Poppy was at a friend's birthday party and I could make it to, what looks like the last, Guy Fawkes 10 at the stunning Ripley Castle.

A week of running up hills and mountains in Scotland probably wasn't the best way to prepare for this race but life is for living and my legs forgave me eventually!

Huge thanks to Nidd Valley Road Runners for so many years of such an epic race. I've got everything crossed that we can celebrate it's 40th year in style next year!
