In the north of Sardinia stands a curious monument dating to the Neolithic that has a rather uncanny resemblance to a Mesopotamian ziggurat. Built by the Ozieri culture more than 5,000 years ago, this stepped platform once had a temple style building on top and is surrounded by several other megalithic structures. There are no other Neolithic monuments like it on Sardinia.
