For almost all trumpets out there, if you get the middle C in tune at Mezzoforte and then play Pianissimo, it goes up to 40 cents sharp.
And then when you play Fortissimo, it goes up to 40 cents flat.
If you’re playing a trumpet with this tendency, the ground is constantly shifting underneath your feet.
However, it is still your responsibility as a player to be in tune at all dynamic levels.
