In 2025, a facelift does not have to mean surgery.
Twenty years ago, a facelift meant being cut open, pulled back, and stitched together. It came with significant downtime. Healing could take six to twelve months. There were real risks: scarring, fibrosis, asymmetry, sagging, even hair thinning around the suture lines. And yes, nerve damage was and still is a possibility. Revision facelifts were not uncommon.
Today, we are lucky. With facial acupuncture, gua sha, massage, and facial exercise techniques, we now have ways to create lift with fewer risks and different levels of visual results.
No, the changes are not as dramatic as surgery, but they are meaningful. And our patients love that they still look like themselves—just a little more lifted, tighter, healthier. Like they have been sleeping well, eating well, and living well.
It is also not an either-or situation. If someone does choose surgery, I still recommend facial acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine before and after. These tools help prep the tissues, keep blood flow healthy, minimize scar tissue formation, and support faster, better healing. They can even make surgical results last longer.
So when I call what I do an "acupuncture facelift," I do not see it as misleading. I see it as progress. We need to expand our idea of what a facelift can be. Not everyone has Kris Jenner or Demi Moore money. Not everyone wants to travel abroad for major surgery. And many of us simply do not want surgery at all.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
