Father Mathew Feis opens in Dublin.

Feis Maitiú takes place at Father Mathew Hall on Church Street in Dublin. The event will welcome more than 20,000 dancers from across Ireland and Britain over a six week period.

Outside the hall, Irish dancers perform on the lawn, accompanied by May Keogh on fiddle.

This year Feis Maitiú was officially opened by John Kelly, Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach.

An RTÉ News report broadcast on 19 April 1976.
