Temple Bar one of the oldest areas of Dublin is attracting artists, small businesses and young people.
Taoiseach Charles Haughey and the Lord Mayor of Dublin Seán Kenny unveiled a plaque to commemorate the Streets Improvement Scheme in Temple Bar. Sponsored by Dublin Corporation and the European Regional Development Fund the scheme assisted with the pedestrianisation of many of the streets in the area.
The Taoiseach is committed to the development of Temple Bar and hopes
It will in particular be a place for the young people of Dublin to go to relax and enjoy themselves.
Temple Bar Properties, the company established by the government to develop the area as a commercial and cultural quarter, is now planning to build residential properties as well as encouraging more businesses to set up in the area.
