Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann brings music and fun to the streets of Kilkenny.

For the second year in succession, Fleadh Cheoil takes place in Kilkenny.

An open air festival of gaiety and a weekend of good gas.

It is estimated that the festival attracts over 60,000 visitors over the four days generating about a million pounds worth of business in Kilkenny.

Kilkenny hotel owner James Brennan says that Fleadh has been as good last year for business. He is happy to report that there has been no trouble in the town throughout the festival.

An RTÉ News report broadcast on 27 August 1984. The reporter is Michael Ryan.
