In this video, we explore the concept of phase shift in first-order filters, focusing on RC low-pass filters. You will learn how reactive components cause the output signal to lag behind the input, and how this time difference is represented as an angle that changes with frequency. We explain how to calculate phase shift using the formula φ = −tan⁻¹(ωRC) and show how this shift progresses from 0 degrees at low frequencies to −90 degrees at high frequencies. We also introduce how phase shift relates to time delay and how it can be visualized using Python simulations in both frequency and time domains.
