$New Scandinavian Voices: Thomas Korsgaard Iida Turpeinen (EN) Thomas Korsgaard: Trilogy of Tue Nørre Ørum: a small village in Jutland. Tue lives with his family on a farm, among dogs and cows. Money is often tight, his mother is depressed, and his father is unpredictable. Nevertheless, Tue not only discovers his homosexuality here, but also his hunger for life. »Hof« (2024, tr: Justus Carl, Kerstin Schöps), the first part of Korsgaard’s Denmark trilogy, is a coming-of-age novel about the impositions and beauty of life, written »with a tenderness that hits the mark« (Ekstra Bladet) Iida Turpeinen: Beasts of the Sea Steller’s sea cow – a gigantic marine mammal discovered in 1741 and wiped out almost 30 years later – is the focus of this novel, which became a bestseller in Finland as soon as it was published. Spanning three centuries, it tells the story of the first sighting, the later recovery of the skeleton and its restoration, of the people who dedicate themselves to nature research, and »makes the ecological fractures and the free fall of the entire world tangible« (Helsingin Sanomat). With Thomas Korsgaard, Iida Turpeinen Moderated by Toby Ashraf Read by Patrick Güldenberg. The event will be held in English with readings in Danish, Finnish, and German. »Hof« (Hvis der skulle komme et menneske forbi) was translated from Danish into German by Justus Carl and Kerstin Schöps. »Das Wesen des Lebens« (Elolliset) was translated from Finnish into German by Maximilian Murmann.$
