Interlocking SR series. Part 6 #FairyLacefromElena

Four shuttles give interlocking split rings a fascinating new rhythm. This technique is part of my exploration of different ways to build connected and interwoven structures in shuttle tatting.

It is closely related to the method shown earlier in Part 4 of this series, but changing the direction of the shuttle pair as it moves into the next ring creates a different pathway through the lace.

These small variations are one of the things I enjoy most about tatting. The same basic elements can be arranged in different ways to create new structures, textures, and possibilities for lace motifs and designs.
