This trip culminated in what we're calling the "STOL Gym" where I was training with Former Thunderbird F16 pilot Trevor "Dozen" Aldridge chasing me in the Super Patriot mk I while I was flying the new mk II.
Sharing #STOL Flying with my family was an amazing experience.

10:12
Good coaching about hugging trees
11:00
My much better landing on the Restaurant strip - much better / slower and shorter than what I’d done with Evelyn
11:30
Following Trevor through REALLY close to trees…
12:00
Trevor: "This is a good example of the playground that's here...."
13:14

15:47
good coaching about getting low over trees
16:22
Me to self in the flare: "60 too fast!"
16:35
Trevor: "Go around early on that one as most airplanes don't have the option" - I end up too fast as that strip was SO close to the last one and I wasn’t ready to set up again that soon.

19:20
Beautiful B-Roll shot of me over the river… But I’m lost… LOL
20:14
I was not set up well - too high and wide; but juuuust managed to make it work with an aggressive slip.
21:08
Good approach and landing with me calling out the speeds + nice Zak shot
22:10
Reviewing avoid accelerated stall by not pulling
22:35
Good stuff actually getting legit oriented (finally :).
PLUS a great specific overview from Trevor describing "the STOL Gym" with out saying it
23:35
NOPE. Too much energy.
Good talk through after going around "I thought I had it..."
24:48
I changed the profile and went over the trees, made it work, but I can see when Trevor stays inside / to the left of the trees.
25:22
My brain is melted, let’s call it,
26:10
Setting up for the last landing, and summary voice over with call to action to help Byrd’s Adventure Centre recover from the floods.
28:28
Easter egg - Evelyn reacts to the view during climb out on departure
FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 20 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.
