High in the Himalayas, Bhutan is often described through clichés: a hidden kingdom, a happy nation, a country apart. But beyond the myth lies something far more interesting — the daily lives of people navigating a fragile balance between old beliefs and rapid change.
From remote mountain villages to the capital Thimphu, this documentary follows Bhutanese men and women as they speak about love, work, faith, family, money, fear, desire, and what makes life worth living. Monks, farmers, civil servants, traders, elders, and young people reveal a society where Buddhist traditions, nature spirits, mobile phones, television, migration, and modern ambitions now overlap.
As roads, electricity, and new media reach ever more isolated communities, Bhutan is changing fast. Yet many of its deepest values remain rooted in mutual trust, ritual, community, and a different relationship to time, nature, and wellbeing.
This is a rare portrait of Bhutan through the people who live its contradictions every day.
