To call insectarium's utterly immersive dark ambience as 'otherworldly' is only the beginning of how to portray its expansive feel. It only takes a few moments at the start of the title track to know you can let go and disappear inside the sounds. In fact, you almost have no choice, such is the strength of pull and spaciousness of the tones and echoing notes. Just go with it. As tense and cosmic as it gets, you will always be safe, no matter how deep you listen to sound. An in-depth story told by warmly cocooning slow-releasing reverberations, topped off with the sweetest cherry of my favourite insectarium piece of music in 'never good enough'.
I had been a fan of insectarium's work from early on, around 2 years at the time of asking if he would like to make an Owlripper release, due to his collaboration with Mike Benoit, compilation submissions and then subsequent releases, so I am very pleased to share with you an album that is everything and more than I even hoped for.
