Dead Meat was originally released as a gift to those that purchased and supported my first album, "Back to the Mud", and it was just a compilation of demo tracks that pre-dated Back to the Mud, as well, various demos of songs that ended up on Back to the Mud. It was also released because I simply wanted to see my discography grow, whereas, I should have considered quality over quantity. As the years passed, I began to loathe the fact that I put those songs out, even if listeners would occasionally purchase it, or even say it was great, which is honestly astonishing to me.... Either way, I still saw it as an embarrassment. It was a weak follow-up to Back to the Mud, and youโre probably not going to change my mind.For the past few years Iโve thought about re-visiting the songs, re-working them and changing them more into what I intended back in 2015, but failed to do so because of my own lack of discipline and dedication to other matters.Thus, what you see and hear before you are finalized and complete versions of these songs. The experience has been augmented with a few additional re-recordings from early Noctilucant bonus tracks, which much like the Dead Meat tracks, were tossed together quickly and carelessly.All of the songs have also been retitled, but resemble the originals.Re-recording albums is hardly my favorite approach to music, and I usually scoff at my favorite artists when they do it, but usually those artists choose to re-record their best album, whereas, Iโm choosing my worst and making it something else entirely.
