In this quick video tutorial from 2Dgameartguru.com I create a hairy little monster in Inkscape.
This video explains the creation of hair using power strokes. I use basic circles, adjustments, and blurs to create the main body before adding hairs. I create a few variations first. The bits allow me to quickly duplicate, adjust, and place hair where I want it without drawing each hair separately.
Most of the functionality shown in the video can be created with other software tools such as Adobe's Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Inkscape with minor alterations and different names for the tools used.

As part of the challenge on the Facebook group Affinity Designer - hands-on I recorded my workflow while creating the design using basic shapes, the corner tool, and clipping masks.
I create the clockmakers store using basic shapes - circles, rectangles, and cogs - with added text elements. Most of the shapes have solid fills [I did cheat a little and used a few gradients] and use shading shapes inside clipping masks for detail and depth.
Reusing, duplicating, and modifying existing elements make it easy to quickly create complex designs.
