As part of the challenge on the Facebook group 'Affinity Designer - hands-on' I recorded my workflow while creating the design using basic shapes, the corner tool, and clipping masks.
I create the clockmaker's store using basic shapes - circles, rectangles, and cogs - with added text elements. Most of the shapes have solid fills [I did cheat a little and used a few gradients] and use shading shapes inside clipping masks for detail and depth.
Reusing, duplicating, and modifying existing elements make it easy to quickly create complex designs.

![Affinity Designer Tutorial - Create Hair using Symbols
This mini video shows a quick and easy approach when creating fur in Affinity Designer. Using symbols makes it very easy to change the colours and the look of the fur.
In this video, I use clusters of strokes with pressure curves as symbols to quickly create the hair. I use circles to create the main body and the eyes before adding hair. I duplicate, scale, and adjust the symbols to quickly cover the body with fur.
I created a more in-depth video on fur with tapered strokes prior [https://youtu.be/tOQsHhfoUP8] and there will be another quick follow-up video on using texture brushes to create fur [https://www.youtu.be/EN4CuCyT-jM].
Enjoy!

![Affinity Designer Tutorial - an overview of the different types of masks
In this video, I try to cover the different options you have in Affinity Designer to mask, trim, crop, and clip. There are the common Clipping Masks and Layer Masks, the lesser known Mask to Below, and Rasterizing a shape to mask. I try to briefly cover the advantages, issues, and limitations of the different types.

![Affinity Designer Tutorial - Quick Fix - Easily Create a Dotted Effect for a Skyline
This quick video tutorial from 2Dgameartguru.com explains the stops to create a dotted effect in Affinity Designer
As Affinity Designer has no build-in Halftone functionality, I place the dots manually using nudge distance and cursor keys [and a whole lot of artistic freedom] to create a skyline shape.
Most of it can be created with other software tools such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Inkscape with minor alterations and different names for the tools used.

![Affinity Designer Mini Tutorial - Setting up Dynamic HSL Colour Adjustment
This mini video shows a quick way to change the colours [of the outline or fill] on multiple objects using stacked HSL adjustment layers.
How do you change the stroke colour of dozens of stacked and rotated shapes easily? This question popped up in the Affinity Designer - Hands-on Facebook group. Rather than do a manual change to each copy, I tried solving it by stacking HSL adjustment layers with a HUE shift.
It turned out to be surprising and fun :)

![Inkscape Mini Tutorial - Creating a Stickman Run Animation
This mini video tutorial from 2Dgameartguru.com uses the easy-to-pose stickman from an earlier video to create a run animation in Inkscape v1.3.
Inkscape is not an animation software but you can create animation frames [as well as parts for skeletal animations] with it. In this video, I will animate the stickman using onion skinning and keyframes before adding in-betweens for a more fluid run animation.
I use the Batch Export and Selections. Selecting the layers and a background rectangle to get frames with the same dimensions.
I used ezgif for my gif animations:

![Affinity Designer Timelapse - Game Art Creation & Character design
This is a timelapse video from 2Dgameartguru.com of a character creation process in Affinity Designer.
I am working with shapes and colours to create a game character from scratch - and without a concept [it was 2.30am and I just wanted to have some fun ;)].
Most of the functionality shown in the video can be created with other software tools such as Adobes Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Inkscape with minor alterations and different names for the tools used.
