This is Popeye, a hawksbill sea turtle who came to us carrying the kind of injury the ocean often hides from view.
A fishing net had wrapped tightly around his front flipper, cutting deep and causing damage so severe that it could not be saved. For marine animals, even a single piece of netting can quickly become life-threatening.
When Popeye arrived, he was too weak for surgery. The team gave him fluids, medication, careful monitoring and round-the-clock care, helping him regain enough strength for the operation he urgently needed.
Only then could vets remove the damaged bone and close the wound properly.
