In an interview with EE Times Asia during the recent COMPUTEX 2026 event in Taiwan, Jimmy Chou, Director of Product Marketing at Infineon Technologies AG, discussed how the rapid adoption of USB 20Gbps connectivity is being driven by AI PCs, high-resolution content creation, machine vision, and edge computing applications.
As bandwidth requirements increase, OEMs face growing challenges in maintaining signal integrity, minimizing latency, and ensuring reliable power delivery across longer cable lengths and increasingly complex system architectures. Chou noted that achieving consistent high-speed performance requires a combination of robust hardware design, optimized signal conditioning, and efficient software integration to address real-world deployment conditions.
Chou talked about their products being exhibited, which feature advances in signal integrity management and power delivery that enable reliable high-bandwidth communication beyond conventional cable lengths. He also discussed their HDMI 2.1 4K120 video capture solution with HDMI output support, which is in line with growing demand for low-latency, high-frame-rate video capture in applications such as content creation, live streaming, industrial vision systems, and AI-enabled edge devices that require rapid transfer and processing of large video datasets.
