Hi-Fi RUSH released out of nowhere, and now people think that's what every developer should do.
Let me tell you why that's a bad idea.

Hi-Fi RUSH released out of nowhere, and now people think that's what every developer should do.
While it definitely worked wonders for Hi-Fi RUSH, it would most likely destroy indie developers, and their indiegame COMPLETELY.
If you're not a massive company like Bethesda (Fallout, Elder Scrolls, lots of Skyrim releases, and soon Starfield), and don't have a massive community like Dani (the creator behind games like Karlson, Crab Game, and Muck), or Fancy (the creator behind the immensely popular Escape The Backrooms game), your game will most likely not be anywhere near as popular at Hi-Fi RUSH on launch (or at all maybe).
It's risky. So don't trust the articles. They're about AAA studios, not indies.

If you've made massively popular games like Ghostwire Tokyo, The Evil Within, or The Evil Within 2, then by all means surprise release your game! It would probably do great, and with your fanbase, and a little post-launch marketing, you'll be fine! (hopefully)
