My review of the eighth Bantam Indy novel and thank GOODNESS the second and last to be written by Martin Caidin. This is basically a slightly more palatable version of the previous Sky Pirates. There's a littl emore action and the plot moves a tiny bit faster but otherwise it's more of the same. There is no villain or plot to involve the reader in since they are never developed. There's more magic and sorcery in an Indy story, unresolved elements galore, withheld information, massive amounts of background details stop the book cold while characters spout them for pages, massive amounts of wasted pages spending endless time to get anywhere and you guessed it...MORE vintage aviation details.
This book and the previous Sky Pirates are just plain terrible. White Witch is thankfully slightly better and has a few interesting ideas but it is a chore to finish and an absolute slog to read.
The Indy series next moved to Max McCoy who at least seemed to understand the tone of the films.
