Happy Holidays everyone. As my gift for you this year, I have two videos for you. In this second video, we look at something a lot of iNav pilots seem to have trouble with. Accidentally disarming in flight. There are a couple of settings that always seem to get recommended when someone asks about this in the INAV Fixed Wing Group:
nav_extra_arming_safety and disarm_kill_switch
I believe that setting these two commands to OFF is a very bad practice. First and foremost, they are safety features. They exist to stop arming when when the model is not ready, and also to kill the motor as soon as possible. The last one is particularly important, as it can stop injury to people caused by spinning props.
In this video, I show a way to have both of these safety features enabled; yet still allow you to instantly arm the model if you accidentally disarm in flight. It's the best of both worlds.
Check out this video for examples of this solution working. It shows re-arming in nav modes, with high throttle, with autolaunch, and with tuning modes youtu.be/4dXFTgsq_oM Hopefully this will answer your questions.
[UPDATE] Instead of using "Ground speed" for the logical switch. Use "3D Speed". This will work absolutely fine on fixed wing. Plus, it would also allow this to work on multirotors. The would need to be moving in any direction above the minimum speed.
