Overnight wild camping trip hoping to witness the Northern lights over Scotland.
Having not seen many Aurora events myself, it was great to get out and see if we could witness and capture it from my local hills. It proved to be a cold, cloudy and rather blustery evening but all worthwhile in the end.
During this film I also discuss a new pot / windshield adapter plate to use with the MSR Pocket Rocket 2 which can be purchased from Flat Cat Gear through link below. Looking to do a further in depth review after having used it on a few more trips.
The Ocelot Inferno HX Kit is an adapter plate used to couple the Pocket Rocket Deluxe (and PR2) to the Sterno Inferno mug. The stove requires no modifications and can easily be converted back to the standard position in seconds.
NOTE: I had said in this film that it worked with other mugs but this particular system is only compatible with the Sterno Inferno mug and will NOT work with other HX style pots.

Wild camping in Scotland around the stunning White Mounth Munros & Lochnagar.
My route started from Spittal of Glen Muick carpark just outside Ballater. The route from Ballter to the car park at the head of Glen Muick is beautiful but nothing compare to the impressive cliffs of Lochnagar.
It was great to summit so many Munros in a single outing, however Lochnagar is by far the finest of the summits and with the fairly good weather it was a hugely enjoyable walk. All the way round there was fantastic views with an amazing feeling of space and remoteness.
It was sad to see the wreckage of the RAF Canberra Bomber that had come down on the mountain, but is just one of many that have crashed in the Scottish mountains over the years.
Remember that this is fairly long and exposed mountain route and in good conditions the stony tundra-like terrain makes for easy going. However this area should not be taken lightly especially in bad weather and good navigation skills and equipment is essential as the weather changes fast and frequently.
Another great little trip that I would like to do again, this time during the winter!
