In my Hometown is another track on my album ISOLATION available at itunes and spotify or you can get it direct from me. I redone the song and added a release and more instrumentation. I am completely happy with the way it turned out. A stripped-down version can be found on my original IN MY HOMETOWN album released years ago.
The video clips were mostly gathered from my recent trips to my hometowns of LaSalle and Mendota Illinois. I also added a few from my Dad's 8mm film archives. Thanks dad!
Time has passed by and the memories I have of the 60's and 70s still remain strong. A person's hometown is important and I think we all get a little nostalgic for the place we grew up.
My Ma and Dad bought me my first guitar at Bertrands music store in Spring Valley Illinois. The year was about 1974-75 and the guitar is a Yamaha FG-160E made in Japan. I used that guitar on this recording and I must say it never sounded better. I think it was important that i use the same guitar I have had for 48 years. The age of the wood and the sustain it has is something only time can give to the instrument.
As far as the song goes, I have received many good compliments and I appreciate it. It's truly a heartfelt song and it's sad to think I may never get the chance to live there again. I recently tried but it did not work. Lessons learned. I hope you enjoy the song! As always, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day and listening to the stuff I post on YT.
