Using AI models, Jaysón Davidson's research suggests that by using social determinants of health, we can reduce the inequity that exists in out health care system, especially when it comes to diabetes. Housing, employment, education, and poverty status all factor in to health outcomes.
He found that patients from poor neighborhoods were prescribed cheaper and possibly less effective treatments.
Davidson won second prize at UCSF Grad Slam 2023, a competition that challenges PhD students to present a compelling talk on their research in three minutes or less using compelling language that non-specialists can understand.
