FULL STATEMENT-
This is not how I ever expected to do this, I had wanted to do this in my own time, in my own way.
I am HIV+ and because of remarks that Alex Belfield made in videos that YouTube refused to take down I’ve now chosen to come out publicly about it because I’m not ashamed.
I was diagnosed six years ago and I’ve been living perfectly well with the condition since then thanks to the incredible work by the NHS and the support of my friends and family.
I take one pill a day which makes me undetectable meaning that I cannot pass the virus on to anyone else.
This is something that I have learnt to live with and have come to terms with, but it’s also something that I kept private. Partly because people that were close to me advised me to do that and partly because I wanted to be able to tell people when I chose to.
This is now something that I am taking control of. I was interviewed recently for the Guardian newspaper and asked whether I wanted to take it out of the article, and at that point I realised I have a choice. I can either add to the stigma by hiding this or I can try to do something to make a difference.
And that’s what I’m doing today.
This doesn’t change me. I am still the same person. I just have something that lives inside me. Something that until now I’ve never spoken publicly about.
But if I can help other people to come to terms with their condition and speak out too then this will all be worthwhile.
END OF STATEMENT.

![Alex Belfield lied about me, and his fans are still spreading his lies. Help me to clear my name.
#AlexBelfield #VoiceofReason #BBCPresenterScandal
[*I apoligise for the sound issues in this video]
I am Philip Dehany, one of the several victims who were stalked by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years.
During the course of harassment, Belfield made over 30 videos about me that he posted on YouTube. They contained lies and false allegations that his fans now continue to spread.
Despite being jailed and have restraining orders imposed on him, Belfield continues to write to people to slander me, and incites them to continue to harass me, and write lies about me.
This is why I am taking legal action against Alex Belfield, to clear my name.
Belfield has already settled Jeremy Vine’s claim for defamation admitting that “Mr Belfield never had any basis at all to make the false allegations of dishonesty against Mr Vine.”
Belfield also stated “the defamatory and seriously harmful allegations of dishonesty which he made against the Claimant are entirely false.”
In the criminal trial against Belfield was found guilty of making “wholly false allegations”.
My Story:
I was one of the several victims attacked and harassed by Alex Belfield, because of my sexuality.
I spoke out about him to combat homophobia and am now trying to raise £15,000 to seek acknowledgment, an apology and damages.
I have already paid over £5,500 in legal fees, and now need to continue to raise £15,000 to pay for the Particulars of Claim.
If you are able to continue to support me, by sharing my story, thank you.
I am raising money through Crowd Justice. All the money raised will go directly to Samuel Solicitors.

Who I Am:
I am Philip Dehany and I need your help. I was a theatre blogger and am now a volunteer for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
I am one of the several victims who were harassed by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years. After his trial concluded, but before he was sentenced, Belfield publicly revealed information about my HIV status. I am now claiming compensation from him in the civil courts, under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Belfield’s awful campaign of harassment against me, (much of which was directed at my sexuality) continued even during and after his trial. He constantly published harassing videos about me and others, and made a lot of money from YouTube advertising revenue and by asking for donations from his followers.
The impact upon me has been huge - my reputation has been seriously damaged and I lost my passion, confidence and ultimately my income as a theatre blogger. I am now seeking therapy.
Unless Belfield agrees to settle with me, which seems very unlikely, I will have no choice but to issue court proceedings against him and my costs to take the matter all the way to trial could reach £100,000.
Although being convicted for stalking and settling a defamation claim with Jeremy Vine, Belfield still refuses to acknowledge the damage he causes to me.
Please help me to raise legal fees to claim compensation from ex BBC presenter Alex Belfield who harassed and stalked me, and then threatened “he’d be back”.
