I found this article in a paper 120+ years old. Can you imagine, old turn-of-the -century locomotives chugging down the CBQ branch from Earlville to Amboy? Passing through Compton and West Brooklyn.
When the northbound backed up to Mendota, it went past the tower, past the switch on 5th street and got on the Q track behind the tower, and proceeded through the large Q yard and headed to Earlville. A tower also guarded the crossover at Earlville where the CNW crossed with the CBQ.
I thought it was interesting.
