World heavyweight title prospect Moses Itauma warned talk is cheap after Filip Hrgovic promised to “smash the kid” and “send him back to high school” at Thursday’s media conference ahead of their clash on Saturday.
History could be made at London’s O2 arena as the undefeated 21-year-old Itauma (14-0-0) aims to become the second-youngest heavyweight world champion in boxing history - after Mike Tyson- when he takes on the 34-year-old Hrgovic (20-1-0) for the vacant IBF World Heavyweight title.
Itauma remained focussed on Thursday in front of the media, dismissing Hrgovic’s taunts as “schoolboy banter” and saying the possibility of becoming Britain’s youngest ever heavyweight world champion was no distraction.
After the fight was officially announced in the middle of June, the heavyweight division was blown wide open a week later when the unified champion of the world, Oleksandr Usyk, announced he would be vacating his IBF, WBC & WBA world heavyweight titles.
