I’m visiting every Texas State Park — and this stop took me to McKinney Falls State Park in Austin, Texas for my first solo camping trip.
Located inside Austin city limits, McKinney Falls sits along Onion Creek and has a history that stretches back thousands of years. The Tonkawa people once lived along this waterway, and in the 1800s Thomas McKinney built a homestead and gristmill here that helped supply flour to early Austin.
