Back in my 20's I was a regular vlogger, posting to my on-going "Kyle Paints" series.
When I entered my 30's, my vlogging slowed down considerably, and I moved my focus more towards my abstract visual/noise "Weird Stuff" series of videos.
The original idea behind the art vlog was as a value-add to art collectors, so they could hear the whole "artist's thoughts in their own words without anyone else getting in the way" thing. Another reason was as a resource for art students and emerging artists, so they could hear the unfiltered thoughts and experiences and struggles of someone just a bit further along the path than they are.
But the main benefit turned out to be to myself. One benefit was forcing myself to focus my thoughts and put them to words, expressed linearly, which could help distill and focus everything rattling around up there amorphously. A second benefit was to myself when preparing for a new body of work. I would use my previous art vlog videos as a means of going back and taking a look at where I was to help me better understand where I should be going.
I'm currently putting a new body of work together, and when I went looking for some old videos, I realized I don't have this resource anymore. So I'd better get started so future Kyle can have an easier time!
